NHAI Toll Plaza

A toll plaza canopy for a 237-metre, twenty-eight-lane crossing on the Delhi–Jaipur corridor. Four concepts drawn from Indian symbolism — Dhanush, Chakra, Dwaar and Helix — were carried to client evaluation, and the Dhanush scheme, taking the archery bow as its structural idea, was selected as the final proposal.

The geometry was resolved generatively in Rhino, with Kangaroo Physics in Grasshopper simulating structural behaviour directly. Anchor points, load vectors and spring tensions were defined and the geometry allowed to relax into equilibrium, making visible how forces move through the structure and guiding surface curvature and support placement. The result is a lightweight, expressive form that distributes weight naturally while holding its visual lightness across a very wide span.
